Declan and Deborah Murphy have lived in Litchfield since 2000. They make their home with their two Wheaten Terriers in one of the historic homes on South Street. Declan is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Junior Republic. They enjoy participating in community events and charities as well as good food and wine. Their son, Robertson Hartnett and his wife, Kyra, and two grandchildren, Ella Rose and Hollis Ray, also live in Litchfield.
Prior to Litchfield they lived in Montreal, Canada, where Declan was the Executive Director of the World Federation of Hemophilia, and subsequently in Fairfield, CT, where Declan was Vice President of International Business Relations for Bayer Corporation. He established Novens in 1998. Novens is a company specializing in the distribution of life saving biological products derived from human plasma, mainly in developing countries. Declan is President and Deborah is Vice President and in charge of Administration. They travel extensively due to their work.
Declan is from Dublin, Ireland. Declan is fluent in Spanish and Italian and speaks French. He has studied and worked in Spain, Italy, Mexico, Virgin Islands and Canada. He has also been a NMO representative to the World Health Organization (WHO) and served on the board of The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).
Deborah is from Oklahoma and worked on Capitol Hill for House Majority Leader and Speaker, Carl Albert. She was manager of a jewelry store in Vail, Colorado and has sold real estate in Texas, Virginia, Maryland and DC. She was active and served in several capacities in the Ladies Auxiliary of Montreal General Hospital.
They met in Washington, DC.
Alexander and Gina Duckworth have generously offered their professional expertise to help the Litchfield Aid plan High Style in the Hills.
Behind the scenes at High Style, Ms. Duckworth of Next Models will orchestrate the presentation of fashions provided by Litchfield merchants and designers: Becket by Bunny Donahue, Bosson Optical, Braeval, Ida’s Bridal, Lawrence Jeffrey Estate Jewelers, LuLu Shoes, Oliphant Designs, R. Derwin Clothiers, Robertson’s Jewelers, Savi CC Custom Jackets, Serendipity, Sportsmen’s, and The Workshop. Local residents will model Sportswear, Town & Country, and Evening attire for men and women.
Mr. Duckworth will be the event’s host.

Alexander Duckworth, started Point One Percent, a branding, marketing and strategy consulting agency, to focus his strategic and creative talents on a niche market – the wealthiest .1% of the population. He has creatively marketed well-known brands ranging from Microsoft and Coca-Cola to Ralph Lauren and Harry Winston. Alexander has won, and continues to win, numerous awards for his work. He is often quoted in the media as an expert on the luxury market and has taught several classes. Alexander is a member of the Gerson Lehrman Retail Council, sits on the development committee at the YMCA of Greater NYC and is a board member of the Busoona Institute based in Uganda. He divides his time between NYC and Litchfield CT with his wife Gina and their four children.
Runway Advisor ~ Gina Duckworth, Director of Next Artists at Next Models
The founder and former Director of Ford Artists at Ford Models NYC, Gina Duckworth is currently the Director of Next Artists at Next Models. The agency’s roster includes hairstylists, makeup artists, fashion stylists, prop stylists, manicurists, photographers, film directors, tailors and art directors. Next Models is listed on models.com as one of the top three modeling agencies in the world. In September 2013, Gina launched the Next Artists Fashion Week Beauty Lounge and is the editor-in-chief of “The Lounge” magazine. She divides her time between NYC and Litchfield CT with her husband Alexander and their four children.
