The Litchfield Green

Litchfield Green

The four roads leading into Litchfield – North Street, West Street, South Street and East Street – meet at the historic Litchfield Green, which embodies the heart of the town and, over the years, has been the starting point for the Litchfield Annual House Day Tour.

The Green has undergone many changes during the past 294 years, slowly evolving from a pasture to a park. Surrounding the Green are town offices, shops, the old courthouse, the former jail, the much-photographed Congregational Church (formerly the Meetinghouse), the United Methodist Church, and the Litchfield History Museum.
